As primarily piano restorers but also as piano players we are well placed to give you the most informed information on all the pianos that we sell. Buying a piano is not an easy undertaking and we aim to make it a more relaxing purchase by being as honest as possible.
We sell new pianos from a range of manufacturers including Kawai, Gebr.Perzina, Steinbach, Weber, plus some of the constantly improving Chinese manufacturers which are nowadays quite surprisingly playable instruments. We also have a full range of secondhand and restored upright and grand pianos always in stock (of which you can see more of in the photo gallery) and we usually have part exchange instruments for sale at surprisingly cheap prices.
Also,
we sell a wide variety of piano furniture. Stools are sourced from various
manufacturers covering the budget sector to the quality stools, concert
stools and also music cabinets.
Grantham piano Services have been restoring Grand and upright pianos since 1972 (in fact the business was solely based in restoration for many years) no job has been too small or too large and there are few things which we haven't encountered.
Our expertise covers everything from wooden framed tabletop pianos to Steinway concert grands. All makes are catered for and all work is carried out in our on site workshop. Our restoration work is broken down thus:
Restringing - We pride ourselves on the quality of our restringing work. Wrest planks (tuning planks) can be replaced. Frames are re-painted. Any soundboard cracks are repaired and the soundboards re-varnished. Pianos are strung in the best quality German piano wire and the pianos tuned to concert pitch. We have restrung many hundreds of pianos and we're pleased to say that it's still good fun!
We offer a fully qualified, high-class tuning service to all our customers which is also used by the majority of the local concert venues and theatres, which include Plymouth Pavilions, Plymouth Theatre Royal, Plymouth Guildhall, City of Plymouth Museum lunch time concert series, University of Plymouth Sherwell Centre and many other associations, music teachers and fine amateur pianists.
